Toilet problems will not only cause you nightmares but may also be quite costly especially when the issue is left untreated for long. While you can easily find toilet parts in home centers and hardware stores, dealing with the toilet issues may not be as easy as you’d want to think. Below are some toilet problems that should be dealt with immediately you spot them.

Running toilet

A running toilet can be quite mysterious and have you going crazy whether it’s water cycling on and off or running continuously. One major cause of a running toilet is a flapper that does not seal causing the tank water to seep around it. To know if the flapper is shot, flush the toilet and check if there is a leak in the fill valve. Lift the toilet float arm up when the tank is filling and see if the water stops. If it doesn’t, you will have to replace it.

Clogged toilet

If you are dealing with a clogged toilet, 90 percent of the time all you will need is a toilet plunger to unclog the toilet. As such, consider buying a toilet plunger and having it in your home. Toilet plungers are designed in such a way that it allows you to exert the needed pressure in order to push out whatever may be stuck in your toilet drain.

Toilet won’t flush properly

While clogs and other malfunctions may cause your toilet not to flush properly, there are other reasons as well such as an obstruction in the drain or a defective toilet. First, check to ensure that your plumber has removed the temporary plug that is used when pressure-testing the lines. If that’s not the problem, you might need to call your plumber to come to check and fix the issue.
